This time last week I was returning from beautiful Paris.

Next on the “Mademoiselle Privé” experience (once the show had finished on Tuesday) was a visit to Lesage in Ponteau.

Lesage are responsible for the couture embroideries we see in Givenchy, Balenciaga, Dior, & Chanel (of course). Chanel bought this company in 2002 so the atelier could survive & stay open in Paris.

After studying the story of Lesage in Fashion History a few years ago, I was like a little girl in a sweet shop. Every couture pattern, embroidery & design you can think of is there. They are all hiding in every drawer and corner of the establishment.

Then came the tough part, and something I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget. I spent the afternoon embroiding my own brooch, surrounded by beads, tweeds &, of course, macaroons.
